Occupation

Patrick was a musician and music teacher in Newcastle and conducted the choir at a local Catholic Church. One day, he came home to find the parish priest had called to inform him that since he had not been married in the Catholic Church, his marriage to Sarah was not recogrused and their chddren were not legitimate. Patrick left the priest in no doubt as to what he thought of that proposition and ejected him from the house. He resigned as choir master forthwith and became a member of the local Anglican Church where he continued to put his musical talents to good use. The 1901 Newcastle directory has the entry: Musicians - Vial, P. Lindsay Street, Harmlton [p.78]
