Treva was a flight test officer with the Department of Civil Aviation and had logged thousands of hours flying experience. Treva had also been a flying instructor at Inverell and then later became chief flying instructor with NASA at Cessnock. While at Inverell he survived a serious crash in a Tiger Moth.

Death

Was the Chief Flying Instructor of the Manning River Aero Club at the time of his death. He was taking a Mr. Ian Zimic on an instrument rating exercise when the Club's single engine four seater Piper Archer crashed at Oxley Island at about 8:45 pm. The crash is believed to have occurred near where his parents ran a dairy farm.
