Daisy Wisbey never had children of her own so when she clocked up her century yesterday (24th September), 630 New Lambton Public School pupils became instant family. She is the schools longest living former pupil. Born on September 24, 1889 at Orchardtown, then a separate hamlet, has lived her life in New Lambton, except for 2 years at Merewether when she married. Mrs Wisbey left school when she was 14 and worked for Scotts, now David Jones. As was customary then, she had to leave when she married at 24. Asked what her greatest memory was, she said it was winning the 1946 State pairs bowls title with her friend, Vicki Campbell.
