Emigration | Jeffress Family History Text: ...coming to Australia as "Assisted Immigrants" where William, who was a bricklayer, and his eldest son John were employed in the construction of the Australian Sugar Company building. William and Sarah were accompanied by their eight children on the "ANN GALES", arriving at Port Jackson 12th July 1840. On board was William age 39, Sarah 36, John Thomas (born in 1824), Sarah 14 (1826), Mary Louisa 13 (1828), Elizabeth 9, Emma 8, Harriett Ann 6, James 4 (1837-1911), and Charles age 1 year (1839-1882). |
