The funeral, which took place yesterday afternoon from St John's Church, Parry Street, Cooks Hill, was largely attended. A short service was held at the church, during which the choir sang the hymn, "Lead, Kindly Light" and at the conclusion "The Dead March" in "Saul" was played by the organist. Rev. F.V.Drake officiated both at the church and at the interment, which was in the Church of England cemetery, Sandgate. The chief mourner was Mr Arthur J Davey of Lismore, only son of the deceased. Messrs. T. Jones, H.W. Nickisson, F.W Newman and T. Eather, member of the parochial council acted as pallbearers. Numerous messages of condolence were received, and wreaths were placed on the grave on behalf of the following: From Chas, Mr & Mrs B.J.Pearce & family, W.F.Cox, from Claude, St Johns Church, Florrie & Lily, from Will. Mrs Davey predeceased her husband ten years. |
