Text:

There are in fact five George Raymond Piddings in all, but only one Pidding convict.

Briefly, the line runs:

George Raymond (1800-53) m. Marianne Righton (d. 1872). She was the widow of Basil Righton of the East India Co. I don't know her maiden name; she was apparently French. George R.'s ten siblings included the painter Henry James P (1797-1864); the East India Co. captain and teadealer John Rhodes Pidding (1803-50) who sold his tea as "Captain Pidding"; the inventor William Pidding; and a surgeon, Thomas Pidding, who came to NSW free in 1829 and died there in 1840.

George and Marianne had two sons, as you know.

  1. George Raymond (1824-93) married twice: in 1849 to Miriam Burgess (d. 1863) and in 1864 to Sarah Ann Davies (d.1824). Issue: With Miriam Burgess:
  2. George Raymond (1850-1902) Son George F.C. (George IV) b/d 1883.
  3. Henry Augustus (1852-??)
  4. Sarah Miriam (Young) (1854-1936)
  5. Louisa Caroline (Eldridge) (1857-1921)
  6. Eliza (Rutherford) (1860-1953)
  7. Charles (1863-1939)
  8. Alfred (twin - b/d 1863)

With Sarah Ann Davies: 8. William Heath (1865-1898) 9. Frederick Ord (1866-1941) 10. Herbert James (1868-1942) (His third son was George Raymond L. [1893-1965]) 11. Walter Burgess (1870-75) 12. Ida Eveline Maud (1873-74) 13. Percy Horatio (1877-1927) 14. Cecil Raymond (1881-1927) 15. Edis Byron (1884-1945)

  1. Charles James (1826-1900) married Isabella Dodds (1829-1904) at Port Macquarie, 1848. She gave birth to ten children, only five of which survived:
  2. George Raymond (1848-49)
  3. Charles James (1850-53)
  4. Marianne (1851-55)
  5. Isabella (Manning) (1853-1931) My great grandmother.
  6. Margaret Mary (1858-59)
  7. Elizabeth Louise (Kearton) (1860-
  8. Louisa (1862-67)
  9. Margaret (Kearton) (1865-1904)
  10. Charles (1867-1945)
  11. Douglas Francis (1870-1912). Doug's grandson, Noel Pidding, played Rugby League for Australia.
