"I don’t have a copy as such of Henry and Maria’s marriage, but can tell you that they married at the home of George Lancelot Butt at Taree on the 14 April 1875 (Maria’s name was listed as Maria Butt Gadding) his brother Arthur and his wife were the witnesses and parents listed as John and Augusta. Henry John was Baptised 2 Oct 1839 along with his sister Harriett at Broughton Hampshire, what is strange is that none of John and Augusta’s children can be found on Free BDM I can see a transcription of the baptisms but can’t view the parish register as I wanted to see if it gives their birthdates as Arthur, Matilda Augusta and Maria were all baptised at Southampton on 10 June 1857 just before heading to Australia. Henry was the informant when Augusta died, I also can’t find out when he came to Australia or on the 41 or 51 census. Henry died 28 Oct 1922 at Redfern and Maria died 18 Feb 1933 at Chatswood and it says that she was born at Margate Kent in 1849 so there is no mistaking her for anybody but the Maria Green on the 51 census with John and Augusta."
