Note: Image kindly made available by the volunteers at Australian Cemeteries Index.

Note: The immigration records of when the Renwick family emigrated to Australia includes the information that James was 46 years of age at the time they embarked on board the "Hero". His headstone, however, is inscribed that he was 70 years of age at the time of his death in 1854. This would mean that he would have been born about 1784. He and Janet probably stated their lesser age to qualify for government assisted migration.

"These are the details for James when he emigrated. His mother’s name was Sara or Surruy Halliday. She and her husband Thomas are buried with many of their relatives, including my ancestors Thomas Renwick and Jane Kennedy in Wamphray churchyard which is shown on the photo of Renwick graves. The headstone with the urn belongs to James’s brother Herbert and then the 3rd next tall grave is of Thomas and Jane Kennedy, my ancestors, and James’s brother who farmed with him at Dyke. The really small grave is James’ uncle William Renwick but I can’t remember who the other visible grave is but all those named here are opposite Thomas and Sarah’s which is leaning over slightly."
