"One other detail is that Thomas McBride was christened in the Presbyterian Church at Ballylinny, a tiny village about 7km SW from his birthplace of Straid. The original register has not been sighted but according to a transcription (available via FamilySearch.org) Thomas was christened on 18 Feb 1840. However, another record gives this as his date of birth."

Note: The headstone for Thomas is inscribed that he was 84 years old at the time of his death in 1924.

"Margaret's marriage - 17 May 1850, by licence, at Presbyterian Church, Kilbride (Co Antrim, Northern Ireland) to William Allen. She was aged 21 yrs, a resident of Ballyvoy, parish of Kilbride, Co Antrim and her father was recorded as John McBride, "miller". Interestingly one of the witnesses was James Lorimer. (NB Her marriage was at Kilbride in Co Antrim, Ireland and her children were baptised at East Kilbride in Scotland!) Margaret and William went on to have more children and they lived in Sydney until their respective deaths. William died 27 September 1900 at Camperdown"
