Some sad news!

Margaret phoned us a short time ago to tell us that Dorothy Hellowell died this afternoon around 4.00pm. We last saw Dorothy on August 23, the day after we visited Bet in Wingham, on our way north. We both thought that Dorothy had failed a lot since our previous visit with her. Apparently, a week or so after our visit Dorothy fell and was admitted to hospital with a broken hip. I am not clear whether she underwent surgery or not but she was returned to the Nursing Home for palliative care. Margaret was called this morning after her mother had deteriorated overnight and as on her way to Port, and had reached Bulladelah, when word came through that Dorothy had died. Chris Hellowell was with Dorothy when she died peacefully. No funeral arrangements have been made yet and these will be complicated by the coming holiday weekend! Lyn and I are off to Canberra in the morning and will return to BV on Thursday evening. We plan to phone Margaret tomorrow evening to hear what arrangements have been made, but at this stage, it looks like we may not be able to get to the funeral.

Lyn is deeply saddened by Dorothy’s passing as they were close to each other. That is why Lyn has asked me to pass this news onto you.
