Today the Coroner held an inquiry, and returned a verdict of Murder, Suicide. The bodies of Worth and his wife Mary Ann Worth, were found in a paddock, 150 yards from their home. Near the body of the husband was a pea-rifle. It is thought that the tragedy was the result of domestic troubles. [I was told by one of the grandchildren that Mary Ann was tired of his drinking, so she said if it continued she was leaving. He came home this night and she had her bags packed ready to leave. They believe that is someone had found her that night, she may not have died, as it was only a pea-rifle, and she bled to death.]" |
