James & Sara lived in Qld for a few years after they were married and their oldest child Susannah was born there in 1867. Interesting fact Its James' 173rd birthday today. Lived in Castlereagh St, Penrith; 1903 Elect roll) and stayed at least until about 1906 but in 1910 he traded places with bother Norman A and he moved to Wauchope where ran family store with another of his brothers Hilton. They may all have been there together for a short time. James W stayed until 1915 when he then left Wauchope. He later had a bakery business at Woodburn on the Richmond River, where he and Hilton started Hunter Brothers Store which became a huge supply store. Later he moved back to Sydney and became a fruit agent at the Sydney fruit markets. He acted as agent for Norman A, Norman M and Mervyn’s orchards at Castlereagh and Emu Plains. Towards the end of 1928 he had one kidney out and lived many years after this, never ceasing in his work. Howell's finest achievement was taking 10 for 28 against Surrey during Australia's 1899 tour of England. He purchased and ran Hunter Bakery in Wauchope for many years later handing the business of now bakery/Store/Auctioneer over to two of his brother. Then he moved his family back to Emu Plains in 1910 where he established the then largest Citrus orchard in the Southern Hemisphere. In about 1922 he was voted onto the board of “Miss Bishops” to oversee the liquidation of the company and instead turned the company into the largest Catering business in Sydney. regularly catering for huge functions , including the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 1936 and regularly, doing the Cricket, Racing Tennis and Railways. In the 1950’s the Company was on-sold to David Jones. The orchard was kept going by his sons and was only sold in the 1970’s. Norman Augustus and his son Norman McLean were were given the role of catering for entire Western Sydney should Sydney be bombed and emergency food be required. This necessitated a close report with the RAAF Base at Richmond as many stores were being kept there during the war and many visits and flights for Norman jnr during the war. d 6 June 1968 at Emu Plains lived at “Yodalla” 1953 “Coronation Medal” m 18 Nov 1903 Eliza (Ellie) McLean at Coraki nr Lismore NSW b 13 Feb 1883 Wollongbar NSW (as per scrapbook) daug of Donald Hugh McLean & Eliza Gibson) bp 1883 Lismore d 13 July 1957 At Emu Plains NSW 1953 “Coronation Medal” Children 4 ( my dad Norman M was the oldest) 7 Hilton Sydney Hunter b 4 July 1882 a carrier, lived in Emu Plains; 1903 Elect roll & Egg farmer & salesman, 1906 living in Emu Plains d 1962 at Emu Plains ( n.m.) (fiancé died of ‘Flu just before marriage). Hilton ran the store in Wauchope after Norman A and his family returned to Emu Plains in 1910 . In 1917 the Store burnt down and Norman returned and re-built it. Hilton continued to run the store there for many years until its sale. Hilton then also returned to Sydney where he worked with another brother , James Wentworth, where they handled the sale of fruit for the Hunter orchard at Emu Plains. Hilton was well over 6’ tall and was a mighty cricketer - batsman. He was much loved by all who knew him.

8 John Thomas Usher (Jack) Hunter b 8 Sept 1885 d 29 Oct 1971 at Gov Philip Host Penrith, late of Penrith/Emu Plains, aged 86 John Thomas Usher was also at one time a storekeeper on the Bellinger River and also worked for the NSW Railways. He was named John after James’ father, Thomas after Sara’s father and Usher after James uncle who was responsible for James learning all about coaching and horses, and therefore ultimately responsible for James being able to immigrate to Australia. The Usher’s, (Lancelot & Sarah) were James surrogate parents, they had no children and James spent much time living with them in Newcastle-on-Tyne, UK. m 1914 Dora Matilda McCabe at Repton b 1893 d 1974 aged 81 yrs children 8
